This year, I started a creative mentor group called the Business Bettys, which currently consists of illustrator Lori of Fresh Picked Whimsy and photographer Sonja of Moonbug Photography. It is our safe space to discuss business ideas, financial questions and general entrepreneur concerns. We help each other accomplish goals by saying them aloud and being held accountable. I am a firm believer that all creative entrepreneurs should have an inner circle that they can lean on and look to for continued growth and passion in their field.
These two women have helped me push my business and myself to new heights. They have watched me cry, doubt myself, fall apart over the work/life balance. They have also given me a swift kick in ass when I doubt myself and let the fear get in the way of my goals. Sometimes you really do need to "put your big girl panties on." (Thanks Lori!)
If it was not for these women, my blog and portfolio would not have been re-designed, you would never see a picture of me or my daughter on the internet, my design offerings would not be firmed up, my pricing structure would never have been re-evaluated and I would not be the mother I am today. They fired me up and I got it done.
To my biggest inspirations, to two of the best mothers around, to two of the most talented women, to my dearest friends, this is my declaration of thanks.
