My last post was February 13, 2014.
So where the HECK have I been?
I am sitting here staring at the keys, not even sure where to begin?!
I stepped away, for what I thought, would be merely a week to focus on Vale Design business. I have run my own successful freelance design business for almost 8 years. The design landscape has changed. My dream clients have changed. I wanted to re-evaulate and do a slight re-design to my portfolio...
Then...I got sick. I got so sick. What started as a cough the first week of April turned into a raging upper respiratory virus that led me to the doctor, emergency room and then quarantined at my parents house for 5 days. My husband had to work from home for a week. My mom, a teacher on spring break, had to come over to my house and watch my daughter.
I was sick for a total of 5 weeks. Yes, 5 weeks. I have never been that sick in my entire life. I still have a lingering cough. My daughter, husband and now my dad each caught a milder version of this cold. It was brutal. I laid in bed, with insomnia, coughing, choking, crying and praying that God would take the illness away from me.
I had plenty of time to think. I had time to think about how out of balance my life was. Think about how many times I told my husband, "let me finish this website and then I will go to the gym." or "Just let me finish this logo concept and then I will go for a walk with you guys." OUT. OF. BALANCE. I put my body last and my body got trampled.
I had time to think about people with real illnesses, life threatening ones. I was brought to my knees in humility from the amount of strength they must have. I could barely get through that horrific cold.
In the mere month and a half I was sick, something else happened...
We entered a season of busy. My baby is officially not my baby anymore. She is a running, jumping, dancing, stomping, singing, performing, playing, exploring, boundary pushing, going to moms-day-out school, active toddler. She is into everything and is just busy. She is growing quickly and she needs me more than ever.
So that is where I have been. Sick and loving on my family.
...but I have also been up to some MAJOR changes with my design business too!
Stay Tuned for the reveal!
ps. did you notice the blog re-design?! I LOVE it. Minimal is my thing.
