I am always on the hunt for design inspiration.
My latest obsession is unique blog post images. I am on the look out for notable layouts and have been pinning them to my BLOG IMAGE LAYOUTS & DESIGN board for later brainstorming.
Sure, it is easy to transfer a picture straight from your camera to your blog. (I have done it too!) But where is the fun in that?!
Here are 3 reasons to care a little bit more about your post images:
1. PHOTOGRAPHY SKILLS - no master's degree in typography or Photoshop? No problem. The placement of subject matter, a different lens, a bottom 1/3 shot, how close you shoot the item and the final crop of the picture can make a huge difference. Blog posts are a great reason to push yourself creatively and to learn new techniques. Never stop learning!
2. DESIGNER RECOGNITION - Designers, your post images can be an extension of your brand and/or style of work. It can showcase techniques. Your blog is the place where your creativity has no boundaries. Let loose! You never know who may be reading. Maybe a magazine art director looking for the newest member of their team...
3. POWER OF PINTEREST - a pinnable image leads readers back to your site. More readers to your site equals more pageviews. Always a plus if you are looking for sponsors or advertisers.
Examples to help you brainstorm for your next blog post:
Do you have any favorite blogs with unique image designs? What do you struggle with when creating a blog post image? Can you barely figure out how to get the picture off your camera and onto your computer?
