I am a fan of gift cards, but not a big fan of the goofy little holders or paper envelopes provided to hold them. So I have designed some DIY A2 folded printable gift card holders for everyone! There are 2 designs {white & gray, and red & green}, 1 of each on the 8.5"x11". Just print PDF onto cardstock, trim down center line and fold in half. Using an x-acto trace along the back side angle lines. Open card and gently slip your gift card into place. Blank inside to write a personalized message. Try printing design on different colored cardstock! Enjoy!
*Designer recommendations:
1. I would recommend using 80 lb paper. Has a bit more give than 100 or 110 lbs paper.
2. If you need more room for the card, using the x-acto, just make the angle trim marks a bit longer.
3. If your card has rounded corners, just double-stick or using regular tape, tape the card inside.

Hello everyone! I have finally found some time during my onsite freelance work to design a quick Thanksgiving inspired free printable. This Falling Leaves Thankful For card set includes 2 PDFs. One PDF contains 4 "We are thankful for" place cards. Print them on cardstock, trim on the lines, fold in half and place your uncle next to your mother-in-law!
The second PDF contains 6 flat "I am thankful for" cards. Print these out on cardstock, trim on the lines and place them on plates. These would be cute accompanied with small natural pencils. Encourage your guests to write what they are the most thankful for. Then either go around the table and share or place in a bowl and let every guest pick one out and read them out loud so the author can remain anonymous. Enjoy!

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I lost my grandmother to this disease and I am so proud and grateful that my good friend is a Breast Cancer survivor. Remind someone of HER strength. Remind them how much you support them and love them and are going to fight with them. I am offering two new design versions of the original Passion Fire & Fight card. These two free printables are available on one PDF. Print on cardstock, trim, and write a handwritten note on the blank inside. Idea: download these and take them to events, maybe a Breast Cancer run, and hand them out to strangers! Please show your support in any way you can.

Yeah! Take-Aong Treats are back! Today's treat, Maple Chile Popcorn, is brought to you by my amazing recipe finder Sister-in-law. My husband, his twin brother and I hosted a Thanksgiving "dress rehearsal" dinner at our home this past Saturday. That just means we had 16 people at our house for early Thanksgiving! It was a success and this popcorn made the best snack. It was sweet with a nice spicy kick. She added some nuts and pretzel rods for some extra crunch! PDF download includes 2 4x6 recipe cards with this recipe already typed in! Just make the treat, print recipe card PDF onto cardstock, trim and give with love! Enjoy! {It was gone so quickly I almost did not get a picture of it!} Don't miss Take-Along Treat 1, Take-Along Treat 2 and Take-Along Treat 3.

Today is the last of the "take-along" treats and it is sweet and easy to make. Today is Bourbon Chocolate Pecan Pie day! I had this at my sister-in-law's house one Thanksgiving and I sat at her computer immediately after dessert and emailed myself the recipe. This is such a great twist on a simple pecan pie. So tasty and rich. PDF download includes 2 4x6 recipe cards with this recipe already typed in! Just make the treat, print recipe card PDF onto cardstock, trim and give with love! {This is also one of my husband's favorite recipes to make. So from my family to yours, happy, safe and tasty holidays to you all!}

It was brought to my attention last week that September is Childhood Cancer Awareness month. My reader kindly asked if I would do a printable for this. I immediately went to my friend Kristen {of Paper Crave, Domestifluff and Craftig fame} to help me design some joint free printables. We brainstormed and have each created an activity page{s} and a coloring sheet. If you are a parent with a child who is suffering from cancer, our hearts, strength and creativity go out to you all! ~ Erin & Kristen

One of my freelance clients, photographer Sonja Clark of Moonbug Photography, was happy with the blog she had designed and set-up, but she was looking for that little something extra. We had a quick brainstorming session on strengthening the look of her brand, visual organization and legibility. Then I went to work!
I designed a new blog header showcasing her logo {with its sparkly new ® registration! Congrats!} and used the bug as a subliminal arrow to help move the viewer across the top of the site and down the right side to the newly created quick buttons. The side buttons emphasize the brand color and utilize the playful lightening bug graphic to highlight main information. Make sure to check out the reference section with Sonja's helpful hints when preparing yourself or your family for a professional photoshoot. Pop over to check out the new design!
**Note :: Indianapolis Locals :: Her schedule is quickly filling up with school pictures, mini sessions and early holiday card shoots. Be sure to book asap!

I finally have some time to share pictures of my new Vale Design business cards! I designed them to take with me to NSS. I wanted them to be unique, stand out on their own and be affordable to print on press. I am happy to report that they accomplished all three goals and were very well received! I even spied a blue one on the Mint NSS Business Card Round-up! {Thanks Ellie}
My design inspiration was the movie Legally Blonde, where Elle puts her resume on pink scented paper. Quote: "Gives it that extra something, don't you think?" I wanted to save money and print one color on press so I chose four luscious French Paper colors and printed Black. Diecut and a cute eyelet and you have a lovely little hang tag business card. I am also very pleased with the way they dual brand for Vale Design and finch&hawk™.

I am so excited to announce that the Vale Design Paper Goods shop is now finch&hawk paper goods! Same great unique packaging printables, paper goods and customer service as before!
Ever since I decided to open an online shop, I have been searching for that perfect name, something that would reflect me in just a couple of words and stand out in the stationery field. One day while driving, looking for hawks up in the trees, {a favorite past time of mine} it came to me! Why not combine my two favorite birds?! These two birds hold a special place in my heart and family and friends always associate them with me. It just made sense.
I designed the logo about a month ago and have been waiting for the trademark and registration to go through. Thank you all for your previous support of the Vale Design shop and we look forward to seeing you over at finch&hawk! Here are a couple of new products and there will be more coming soon!
Introducing the Printable DIY Gable Box - Scroll - Customizable Colors
We will now be offering the PainInTheGroceries list notepad as a SINGLE offering as well as the 2 PACK. Please read the listings carefully!
**ps I will be leaving the Vale Design shop on vacation mode so you will be able to read customer feedback.

This post is a bit overdue, but better late than never. I have some big goals for my freelance company as well as my online shop for 2010. Here goes:
ETSY SHOP - 1. Big announcement soon. 2. Include new products, packaging printables, notepad designs plus a brand new product line, within the next couple of months. 3. Work toward having some of my products carried in online retail shops and maybe even brick n' mortar. 4. My products featured in a national magazine this year. {Last year I missed out on InStyle due to timing. Fingers crossed for this year! They were so nice!}
VALE DESIGN {freelance} - 1. I would love to pick up a couple of new freelance clients this year, packaging or print. I have been so fortunate to have worked with amazing clients the past four years and I am looking forward to meeting a couple more. 2. Continue with business organization, growth, new business plans, and streamlining. 3. Learn new techniques and push myself creatively for each client. 4. Network and meet new designers and clients via my site, Twitter or Linkedin. 5. Launch site re-design in the next couple of months.
IDEA FOLDER - I have this idea folder on my desk that is filled with post-its and shreds of paper with ideas on them that tend to pile up on my desk or in my car {where I get most of my ideas!}. There are some interesting ideas in there that I would like to work through.
SECRET PROJECT - This is the goal I am the most excited about. I have been taking my time with it due to massive amounts of research it requires and designing a new logo and website. This may sound crazy, but I have always wondered why I was given this creative gift and I finally think I may have found the reason.
Now, because I am a firm believer in letting others hear and help you toward your goals, I am also including a free DIY printable with this post! Just download the A6 fill-in invitation and rsvp card PDF, print onto cardstock, trim and have a party! Dream big and have a grand time while doing it. It is astounding to me what is possible when you step past fear and have the courage to vocalize your dreams and goals. I have also noticed how much sweeter it is to have a friend along for the ride!

I was honored when owner/photographer Sonja Clark chose Vale Design to help her update her company name and look from Bella Vita Images to Moonbug Photography. Sonja is an amazing person and outstanding photographer. She is calm, kind and has a unique gift for capturing a person's spirit.
She specializes in family, seniors, newborns, and birth photography. She is currently prepping to shoot school photos for a number of Indianapolis schools. These are not your run of the mill school photos with the goofy back drops and that plastic comb for your hair. She will be shooting over a couple of days and all the shots of the kids will be candids! How cool is that for a parent?! Examples of her school photography can be seen on her newly updated site. {Personally, her child shots are my favorites. Look at all their eyes. Beautiful!} She is also working on her blog. This will showcase additional photo shoot images, personal photography and some tips here and there. Check back often!
I designed an extensive logo exploration, seen here, and once branded we rolled the design onto a print promotion piece, business card design, gift certificate, watermark, website and blog. Soon we will be exploring some packaging options for her final photo deliveries.
Sonja is booking up very quickly, so please check her site and blog for her contact and availability. She is talented and someone I am honored to call friend and creative confidant.

Vale Design is being featured today on Each Pretty Penny! To celebrate, I have designed this free printable HoneyDew list. The list is 3.5x7 and three list per 8.5x11 page. Just print, trim on the dotted lines, and get to work! This design is considerably shorter than the FreakinToDo list, the DreamyBlogTopics list and the PainInTheGroceries list. Come on, who wants to do a long list of chores?! {My husband said even four boxes on this list would have been too many!} Head over to Each Pretty Penny for this exclusive free download!
{Download is found at the very bottom of the post in small type.}

**UPDATE** Numerous people have been unable to find the link for this download on the Each Pretty Penny website. Do to the fact that I will NEVER ask another designer to alter the layout and/or design of their site, I have added this download to my site. This design was originally offered as an exclusive download, but can now be found below.

It is my husband's birthday this weekend so I designed some birthday cards! Please enjoy these FREE PRINTABLE "Happy Birthday Babe" and "Happy Birthday Love" A2 folded cards. The stripe pattern continues onto the back of the card. The PDF has one card of each. Just print on 8.5x11 cardstock, trim down the center line, and fold each card in half. Maybe try printing on color or simple patterned paper! Get creative! Have a great weekend everyone!
